The figures of the Virgin Mary, the infant Jesus, and an infant John the Baptist are shown in a interweaved group in the center in front of the golden background of the square painting. Mary is wearing floral hippie wreath reffering to the ideology of peace, love and tolerance of the '68 generation. By extending her right leg along a diagonal, her head turned towards the spectator staring out of the painting, Mary steadys Christ as he leans forward unsteadily to touch the hunting rifle held by John. The weapon refers to Christ's passion, death and resurrection as well as the violent nature of hunaity passed generation to genaration, deeply embeded into our genes - no prospect of being eable to break free from the vast history of war and murder.

The latin lettering translates into: "The old ox teaches ploughing to the young ox"
