Fábio Baroli is a Brazilian artist from Uberaba, Minas Gerais, whose poetic visual language explores childhood, voyeurism, and the imaginary worlds of rural Brazil. His “Vendeta” and “Intifada” oil painting series depicted children in urban war situations — toy guns replacing real weapons — and was shown across major Brazilian institutions including Museu de Arte Moderna in Rio and Museu Nacional de Brasília. In 2017, we invited him to Vienna as Q21 Artist-in-Residence at MuseumsQuartier, where he presented GOLIATH at our Jan Arnold Gallery — an unfair battle fought by children, framed through the biblical tale of David and Goliath.
Water Gun distills that tension into a single object: the toy weapon as icon, stripped from narrative and rendered in five colors of screen print ink. What looks playful carries the weight of Baroli’s ongoing inquiry into innocence and violence. Green edition of 36 on Munken Pure paper, signed, numbered, and blind-stamped.
