Anton Hudo is a Ukrainian artist from Kyiv who turned to drawing in 2007 as rehabilitation after a stroke – what began as therapy became a full artistic practice rooted in what he calls “social thriller aesthetics.” His densely layered compositions draw on medieval engravings and address burning social issues with unflinching directness. In June 2022, we invited Hudo to Vienna as Streetartpassage Artist in Residence at the MuseumsQuartier, where he painted on site and presented new work at the Jan Arnold Gallery.
Filthy and Fury channels the raw energy of Hudo’s graphic vocabulary into a three-color screen print – tangled figures and grotesque forms that recall both Dürer’s apocalyptic woodcuts and the visceral immediacy of punk zine aesthetics. The title nods to Julien Temple’s Sex Pistols documentary, fitting for work that treats social unease as artistic fuel.
