Alex Kiessling is a Vienna-born artist working at the intersection of painting and technology. Trained at the University of Applied Arts, his practice spans traditional painting, sculpture, and cutting-edge digital media — from 3D printers and lasers to robotic drawing arms. In 2013, his Long Distance Art project made international headlines: Kiessling drew in Vienna while robotic arms simultaneously replicated his strokes in London's Trafalgar Square and Berlin via satellite link. He presented a solo exhibition at the Jan Arnold Gallery.

Synthetic Prime marks a turning point — one of Kiessling's first works to use an AI-generated motif as its foundation. Inspired by Andy Warhol's favorite film Creation of the Humanoids (1964), a virtual figure serves as placeholder for the "artificial human," deliberately crossing the uncanny valley to blur the line between natural and synthetic worlds. Four-color screenprint on Munken Pure paper.
