Wisetwo is the artist name of Bhupendra Jethwa, a Kenyan artist of Indian descent based in Nairobi. For over thirteen years, his practice has centered on one motif: the mask — drawn from ancient civilizations, shamanic rituals, and endangered tribal cultures. “Behind every mask, there is a true face,” he says. His large-scale murals can be found at Walt Disney World’s EPCOT, the United Nations in Zurich, and Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. In 2021, he painted the mural “Broken” at Weltmuseum Wien for the Calle Libre festival.

Blue Mask translates Wisetwo’s mural language into four-color screen print — the same ritual iconography that covers buildings across eighteen countries, condensed onto paper. Edition of 36.
