Zësar Bahamonte is a Spanish artist from near Seville whose expressive, color-drenched murals are rooted in flamenco, music, and the physicality of dance. His figures pulse with movement – musicians mid-strum, dancers caught between beats – rendered in a palette that pushes beyond naturalism into pure chromatic energy. He was invited to Vienna by the Calle Libre Festival in 2018, where his mural paid tribute to Egon Schiele and Gustav Klimt on the centenary of their deaths.
CINCO – Spanish for „five“ – is an eight-color screenprint that captures the full spectrum of Bahamonte’s palette on paper. Eight ink layers is ambitious for screen printing; here it translates the vibrancy of his wall work into an edition format without losing the chromatic punch. Like Matisse’s late cut-outs, the composition finds freedom in bold color and simplified form.
